This is Imabari Castle. It is a rare
coastside Hirajiro or open-field type castle, built in 1604 by Takatora Todo. |

This is the view looking to the east from the observation deck on top of Imabari Castle. | |
This the view looking to the
west. From this vantage point, it is possible to see the Seto Inland Sea and the islands rising from it. |
Imabari Kokusai Hotel
The Imperial Kokusai Hotel is the finest hotel in Imabari City. It is owned by Imabari Shipping. My group stayed here while in Imabari City. |
Imabari Shipping
Ship building is a major industry
in Imabari City as you can see
by the vastness of this shipyard off the Seto Inland Sea. |
Kurushima Bridges
The Kurushima bridges are three
continuous suspension bridges
that connect Ohshima Island and Imabari City over the Kurushima Straits of the Seto Inland Sea. The bridges are constructed to withstand earthquakes of an 8.5 magnitude on the Richter scale and are considered the longest suspension bridge in the world. |
Imabari City Pageantry
I took advantage of some free
time while in Imabari City to photograph
some of the beauty that caught my eye. |
